Michelle C. Simpson, PharmD, BCSCP, MWC Earns Medical Writer Certification
July 8, 2022 – The National Home Infusion Association (NHIA) is pleased to announce that Michelle Simpson has recently earned the credential of Medical Writer Certified (MWC) after successfully completing the rigorous application and examination process developed and administered by the Medical Writing Certification Commission (MWCC) of the American Medical Writers Association (AMWA). Medical writers who hold the MWC have demonstrated knowledge of ethical standards and publication best practices, and who possess skills necessary to be a certified medical writer, such as gathering, evaluating, organizing, interpreting, and presenting information on health and medicine. The certification is an objective, measurable way of acknowledging competency and recognizing a medical writer’s commitment to ethical practice standards and professional development.
The MWCC is a multidisciplinary group of subject matter experts experienced in medical communication within medical writing specialty areas. To determine the content of the certification exam, the MWCC conducted a ground-breaking job analysis that defined the core competencies of medical writers across a variety of work environments.

NHIA’s Clinical Program Manager Michelle Simpson, PharmD, BCSCP, MWC presented research conducted by the National Home Infusion Foundation (NHIF) at ID Week, the meeting of the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) held October 19-23 in Washington, D.C.
A diverse group of 30 patient and stakeholder groups are calling on Congress to address Medicare beneficiary access to home infusion services. In a letter to lawmakers, which brings together stakeholders from across the care continuum, the groups urge congressional leaders to advance the Preserving Patient Access to Home Infusion Act (S. 2652/H.R. 5067) and increase access to home infusion therapy for Medicare beneficiaries.
Registration is now open for the National Home Infusion Association’s 2023 Annual Conference (NHIA 2023), to be held March 25-29, 2023, at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in Washington, D.C.
